He qualified for the 2008 Markel/USEF National Young Horse Championships. At one of his qualifying shows in Woodside, CA, he received an 81% and the blue ribbon. He again qualified for the Championships in 2009. Rio was second in the FEI 5 year old Class at Dressage at Devon with a score of 74.4%. He has recent scores at 4th level in the 70's. Rio is currently schooling all the Prix St. Georges movements and showing promise to be a highly competitive FEI contender.
